Managed migration
The UK Border Agency's international strategy, Managing Global Migration, sets out the United Kingdom's global plans in the fight to halt illegal immigration. At the the forefront of the strategy is work with other governments to prevent illegal migration and speed up the return of those with no right to be in the United Kingdom. Through working with countries that act as transit points on illegal immigration routes, the United Kingdom intends to put migration at the top of the agenda internationally.
The Embassy is working both bilateraly with Greece and in an EU context to curb illegal immigration, whilst ensuring the rights of genuine refugees. One of the way we do this is through the UK Border Agency's Airline Liaison Officer Network. The ALO offers advice, training and expertise to airlines, handling agents and tour operators in order to prevent or disrupt the carriage of inadequately documented arrivals to the United Kingdom.
Action against human trafficking
The United Kingdom Human Trafficking Centre (UKHTC) was established to lead the fight against human trafficking. As global experts in their field, the Centre brings together a number of agencies – from law enforcement and government to non-governmental agencies (NGOs) and charities – to create a specialist team. Human Trafficking is a crime that the UK government takes seriously.
If you’re aware of any crime that the UKHTC may be interested in, please contact them through their website. Your contact with UKHTC can remain completely anonymous.
