Cambridge Breast Clinic in Greece

The official launch of Cambridge Breast Clinic at Mitera was celebrated with a unique event on Wednesday 13 October, hosted by the British Ambassador at his Residence in Athens. The event was attended by about 300 guests, consisting of members of the local medical, diplomatic and business communities. 

Cambridge Breast Clinic was established to deliver high quality clinical care for the diagnosis and treatment of breast disease and breast cancer in the UK.

Based on the principles of evidence-based medicine and multidisciplinary care, as developed in the Breast Unit in the Cambridge University Hospitals,since 1999, the Cambridge Breast Clinic at MITERA can now offer the same level of clinical excellence from its purpose-built facility at the centre of Athens.  

What are the advantages of the New Clinic at Mitera Hospital?

• In just one visit patients will undergo three disgnostic-related assessments that are : clinical breast examination, breast ultrasound and/or mammography and biopsy, if  needed.
• This triple assessment method, that follows the protocols and guidelines of the Cambridge Breast Unit, provides diagnostic precision of 99.6%
• At the end of the visit, patients will receive a comprehensive report, including all the examination results and the doctors' opinion.
• In the case that surgery is needed, patients will receive cutting-edge surgical techniques such as sentinel node biopsy and promptly performed breast reconstruction surgery.
• The nursing staff employed have received specialist training in the Cambridge University Hospitals with regards to the manangementof patients suffering from breast related diseases in accordance with international protocols.
• The new Clinic directly linked with the corresponsing unit in Cambridge and therefore is able to cross-reference all medical findings.

By adopting evidence-based guidelines and protocols the Cambridge Breast Clinic at MITERA aims to become a Centre of Excellence for the Management of Breast Disease in Greece.
