Faithful+Gould

History
Faithful+Gould worked with the British Embassy to showcase UK engineering, construction and design excellence with a joint reception at the British Ambassador’s Residence in Athens on Thursday 30 June.

The event celebrated the completion of the architectural designs of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) in Athens, being designed by Renzo Piano. Faithful+Gould is project managing the €550m scheme and the tendering process for construction of the SNFCC is expected to begin soon.

The event was attended by leading construction figures involved in the project from both the UK and Greece including Mr. Neil Clemson, F+G Project Executive and Mr. Martin Hirko, F+G Project Director, plus key stakeholders and local partners from the SNFCC project, Arup, Expedition, TPC, AMA, Betaplan, LDK, Omete, Atkins, the British Library and the British Embassy.

Mr. Neil Clemson at Faithful+Gould commented:

“The SNFCC is a ground breaking world class project, a shinning example of the best in design, engineering and sustainability. It will give Athens and the Greek Nation a new focal point of learning and culture.”

The SNFCC is being constructed on an existing site located at the Athens Faliron Delta, in an area covering approximately 200,000 square meters, and is the most important new building project in Greece at present. The SNFCC will encompass three major projects; new premises for the National Library of Greece developed with the British Library’s expertise and know-how; the new home of the Greek National Opera and the Stavros Niarchos Park, a vital, much-needed, open green space in the densely-populated city of Athens.

Faithful+Gould Athens office has a full team dedicated to the SNFCC which will grow to 15 employees during the construction of the project.  Suppliers from the Greek market will participate wherever possible and once complete, the SNFCC will provide employment for more than a 1,000 people in and around Athens.
