In addition to staff posted to Greece from the United Kingdom, the Embassy employes over 80 staff locally. We seek to recruit talented and high performing staff, who support and develop each other and are committed to high standards of service.

Vacancies are advertised on this site and in newspapers. The Embassy HR Office accepts applications only for specifically advertised vacancies.

CVs should be submitted within the given deadline in English together with a covering letter explaining why you feel you are suitable for the particular job advertised. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.

A valid residence permit is required for all non-Greek applicants.

If you are interested in career opportunities at the Foreign & Commonwealth Office, please apply directly to the FCO in London. Further details are available on the Working for us pages on the FCO website.
Students at UK universities who are British nationals and are considering a career in the Diplomatic Service can apply to the Foreign & Commonwealth Office in London for a place on an FCO placement scheme. There are two annual placement schemes: the Economic Sandwich Placement Scheme and the Foreign Policy Sandwich Placement Scheme, which are open to university students in their second year of undergraduate study. The FCO in London also offers a number of work placements to talented individuals from a divese range of backgrounds, details of which are also available via the Working for us page.
The British Embassy does not offer a routine student placement programme. We do sometimes have a place for students with particularly relevant skills and/or background who are looking for some work experience. We are not able to pay any renumeration for the duration of the placement or help with accommodation in Athens.
Students accepted for a placement must have proof of their own medical insurance cover.
