Our Embassy in Athens

The British Embassy in Athens is part of the UK Foreign Ministry, the Foreign & Commonwealth Office (FCO).  The FCO has diplomatic missions in capital cities throughout the world.  In Commonwealth countries these are know as High Commissions and in other countries, Embassies.  In some countries, like Greece, there are also Consulates, which are smaller and based in major cities besides the capital.  The FCO also runs missions to international Organisations, including the United Nations and the European Union.

The British Embassy in Athens represents the British government in Greece.  Its role is to liaise with the Greek government and institutions on behalf of UK government departments and official bodies and to deliver the UK's international priorities in Greece.  The head of the Embassy is the Ambassador, who is the United Kingdom's official representative in Greece.

The British Embassy is staffed by a mixture of diplomats and staff from other parts of British government as well as a core team of permanent staff living in Greece.

The Embassy is located in 1 Ploutarchou Street in Kolonaki, opposite to the Evangelismos metro station.
